How Kat Deals with Repeat Wrong-Number Callers...

So this thick-headed asian lady keeps calling our house and leaves messages for "Richard", when our answering machine CLEARLY STATES that Kat, Mat and Duncan live here.

Anyway, she left a fourth message during which I answered the phone and played this clip (starting at 0:08)

We almost died laughing.

100 or so votes and he goes into the Toy-Machine. You need to register but it only takes a minute and I'd very much appreciate it.

After a seemingly endless bout of depressing circumstances, there appears to be some light at the end of the tunnel job-wise for both Duncan and myself. Talked with my publisher and I get to do some freelance work for them which should garner me some extra cash to pay me bills. I am very excited about this prospect as there are things in Whistler I'd like to purchase because I won't be going back there until after the Olympics are over.

My influence seems to have made it possible for Duncan to procure a job at Petland, he was kind of worried about it being too hard at first but today proved to be a reassuring experience in that it wasn't as crazy as he thought. The store manager informed him today that he's probably going to be the new Stock Manager so yay for Dunkie! That'll be some good experience to go back home with.

P.S. I won a copy of Little King's Story by entering an art contest. Fuck yeah I nailed that shit with my terrible scribblings.

Applying at studios around the lower mainland, had a prominent entertainment studio request my portfolio so I think that's a good sign. Sent it off last night so one of three things will happen:

1.) I won't hear back from them

2.) I will hear back from them but it will be a declination letter

3.) I will hear back from them and I'll have an interview

If by some insane chain of events I do get a job with the studio in question, I will more than likely need to live in the thick of Vancouver to cut back on travel time everyday. And as we all know, looking for any kind of basic housing in this area will be nearly impossible with the Olympics rolling into town. I probably won't get this job anyway so there's not a whole lot of point to thinking about it this much, but the slim possibility is there and I can't stop thinking about it.

Anyhoo, back to reality and a seemingly endless job search. But at least I have cold pizza!

I finally got my 360, Mat bought it for me and he now owns my PS3. Everybody wins! I needed a game which meant I had to locate a copy of Dead Rising so it was off to Coquitlam Centre for Duncan and I. We went to EB and I snagged a copy of the game, while I paid for it Duncan was chatting up the cashier, utilizing his charms. During this process a couple of douchebag guys came in jokingly saying, "Oh look, Pokemon! I gotta get that." they then noticed copies of the new Transformers game and expressed GENUINE INTEREST in it. I knew at this moment we were dealing with a completely retarded breed of gamer.

Short story shorter, the cashier mentioned in passing that they would be accepting resumes soon to these douchebag guys, which gave the impression that they had tried to apply before. Wouldn't you know it, Duncan had a large cache of resumes in his backpack at that very moment and so he whipped one out promptly and the cashier seemed caught off-guard but clearly impressed.

SUMMARY: Duncan applied at EB and has a good chance of getting an interview because the cashier wants to get into his pants.

Loooong flight, Duncan passed out for most of it. We got home without any problems, watched an episode of Good Eats and then promptly went to bed. T'was fun seeing my friends and family, but man am I ever glad to be back here. Mat solved his Die Cast puzzle thing within minutes of my placing it in his hand, freaking ridiculous!

Spacious Thoughts

Had to say goodbye to my mom and sister yesterday, which was super upsetting for me. When I left originally I was of the mindset that, "Well I could be back in a couple of months so I'll see everyone soon enough." Little did I know I'd find the love of my life in British Columbia and now I'm going back to get married and continue my life there with the intent of it being permanent. Not that I won't be visiting Ontario, but still. I know my time here will always be just an extended vacation. Thankfully the internet exists which makes communication ridiculously easy.

The new development this time around is that I won't be flying alone as my friend Duncan expressed interest in exploring our beautiful province. Mat extended the offer of our spare room (complete with a bed and internets), which he promptly jumped on.  It should be an interesting and fun summer for the three of us, I imagine we'll be doing a lot of exploring  (as I still have some things to check out as well).

Flying out on Tuesday afternoon, should be good times if all goes well and Duncan doesn't lose his darn wallet again, lol.

In Niagara Falls this weekend, it's going pretty okay for the most part. My little sister had an extra wedding dress so I tried it on for a larf, turns out it's exactly what I would have wanted. It only cost her $50, but was too big in the chest area so she went with a different dress. Here it is (took these in an area with bad lighting):

For fifty bucks you get; the dress, a vail, and a matching shawl. Crazy! The zipper is broken but that was my fault, I unzipped it a smidgen too far and the thing got stuck right where the zip-line ends. Aw well!

So I guess I go back to B.C. on June 2nd. I've been here for almost 2 months which is kinda weird, went by pretty fast. Didn't do the thing I originally came here to do, but I'm going to go ahead and forgive myself for that as I had every reason in the world not to do the aforementioned thing. Hanging out with my friends has been exactly what I needed after the unpleasantness with my dad. Things with Bill could stand to be better, but I'm trying to be okay with the minor squabbles we have. I'm not interested in fighting at all but it happens, you can't expect your ex to be your best friend all of the time, hah.

Anyway, we should be on our way to the falls soon so I can get pictures/video for Matsy, as well as to Marineland for some complimentary soft serve ice cream and hot dogs. Mmmm!

(I'm going to try and forget about my sister's horror story regarding hot dogs. She once bit into one and found a clump of what could only be construed as fur....like coarse fur from a cow or pig. Oh when it comes to hot dogs, ignorance is bliss)

So Mat and I were perusing the mall yesterday for last-minute things I'll need for my trip (Canucks sweater, new bag, taxes, etc) and then we decided to get food. We order and find a table in Ye Olde Food Court when the following event takes place:

I'm stuffing my face, and this woman walks infront of our table and says, "Hi I was wondering if...." (at this point I thought maybe I knew her or she recognized me from somewhere) "....you had a minute to talk about Angela's Hair Salon."

Oh fuck me. It's a living, breathing spam e-mail.

This woman actually sat in the seat beside me going on about some 90% discount on hair cuts while I'm trying to eat my fucking food before it gets cold, never made eye contact with her once. Finally she said, "Do you get many hair cuts?" To which I replied, "No. I cut my own hair." and proceeded to keep eating. She got up and left.

If that wasn't the rudest, most intrusive thing any salesperson has ever done, I don't know what is short of them following you into a bathroom stall trying you sell you laxatives or something.

Salespeople now outrank Lawyers as the reigning scum of the earth. Do they not realize that people don't LIKE being accosted with sales-pitches? Fucking hell.

So, let us recap my current situation shall we?

- Dad has up to 6 months to live, if he's telling the truth. Why do I say that? Welcome to bullet point #2

- I come to find out I was lied to and Dad didn't have a stroke around November of last year nor did he have another heart attack this year. Can I really believe anything this guy fucking says anymore? (I should have the chat logs somewhere where he told me both of these things occurred. I swear I didn't just dream it up one day for shits and giggles.)

- I just found out that the book I've been working on this past year isn't coming out until...next year? Maybe? Never? I don't know.

- Second book put off until the first one comes out and sells a million copies which means I have no job, and thus will probably have to beg Petland for my job back. I can't wait to be told to put sales before dying animals or be written up for animal neglect.

- I have a flight to Hamilton scheduled for April 11th, but I'm probably going to have to cancel it since I have no fucking work/ income.

Can I crawl into a ball and just sleep for the next twenty years? I really haven't the patience to interact with the human race from this point forward.

Decided I didn't want to regret not seeing my dad, so I booked a flight to Hamilton for April 11th. The anxiety of this whole situation makes me physically ill, mainly because I'm the only person of my immediate (and secondary) family to have to deal with this. So I'll have this depressing issue weighing over me for the near future, and to top it off I get to do it alone. No Mat for probably a month, maybe longer I don't know.

Have to book a flight to Ontario as soon as possible, dad has 6 months. We've had a rocky relationship but he's been learning a lot lately about taking responsibility for his actions, and we're on good terms now. Fuck...this is shit.

I'm engaged! =B

We haven't set a date yet, but neither of us want a traditional wedding (I hate being the center of attention, and weddings just beg to be ruined somehow). What I'd really want is just to have a family/friend gathering with an awesome cake probably in the shape of something. This is awesome, I have an excuse to eat a cake covered in fondant.
